More from the newsletter this week:
“Busy – and exciting – day on Friday as, after finishing my chat with Alison, I had my mind blown and face ripped off via email when Elizabeth Joan Kelly sent me her half of the first installment of re/emergence, our new ongoing series of experimental short fiction and music collaborations – I write the stories, read them, and she rips up, remixes, and transmogrifies those readings into her singular face-ripping/mind-blowing music: sometimes she’ll write the music to the story, sometimes I’ll write the story to the music. New collaborations are wondrous things – and a much-needed reminder of the connective power of social media at its best. re/emergence0001 debuts here, in mid-February’s Macro0040; you may consider the re/emergence to be thus announced.”

Artists include Alex Zhang Hungtai, The Cinematic Orchestra, Moses Sumney, Lucinda Chua, Penelope Trappes, Mogwai, United Bible Studies, California Redemption Value, Murmur Mori, serpentwithfeet, Kadhja Bonet, Alan Morse Davies, and boom boom chickachickachicka wowow, plus an unreleased track from me. Just released (well, Friday, but our internet’s been out): a surprise (!) mini-release of 2 quarantine-themed “public service announcement”-style songs. Find out more on the album post. Enjoy, stay safe, and stay home (unless you’re in the US, in which case stay safe and VOTE!).
Many thanks to Duane Williams for premiering “Blue Moon Frequency #2b [Fall Mix],” my newest remix with Geiger Von Müller, last night on WWOZ. The track is now available as a name-your-price download on Bandcamp. More details over on the release page. Catch the archive of Duane’s show on the WWOZ website, and the playlist here. And a new video will premiere Sunday October 25 in Tyler Weaver’s MacroParentheticals newsletter so make you’re you’re signed up!
Alka’s new album Regarding the Auguries is OUT NOW! as a physical release through the Very Records website as well as digitally via all the usual places. I provide guest vocals on the song “King Card” which ALSO features Vince Clarke, which I believe makes me only 2 degrees of separation from Erasure, Depeche Mode, and Yazoo (which I believe makes all of YOU 3 degrees!).
The Dark Outside returns! Part of Aerial Festival, this edition will be a “one-off 24hr online radio broadcast featuring sounds and music no-one has ever heard (or will hear again) inspired by the legacy of artist Kurt Schwitters.” Go to furtherin.live for the stream; I’ve got a brand new piece called “Karnawał Dusz” in there somewhere.
I’m happy to once again contribute to Wormhole World’s compilation series A Picture of Good Health. Volume 3 comes out in two parts on July 14 as a digital release and CD. I’m on 3.2 with so many music friends and collaborators including Letters From Mouse, Toxic Chicken, Xqui, Whettman Chelmets, WIP, BoyCalledCrow, Geiger von Müller, Sound Effects Of Death And Horror, and Alan Morse Davies, to name just a few. Proceeds go to CALM, and pre-release is available now.
